The Moscow state open pedagogical university is autonomous state educational entity of a maximum vocational education of federal subordination. Has the status of the legal person. It is based as the Moscow correspondence pedagogical institute by the disposal of ministerial Council USSR from April 28, 1951 ¹ 6392-p. By the order Ministry of education of Russia from 06.05.92 ¹183 is renamed into the Moscow state open pedagogical institute. By the order of State committee of Russian Federation on a higher education from 29.12.94 ¹ 1263 and order of Ministry of education of Russian Federation from 10.01.95 ¹ 10 high school is renamed into the Moscow state open pedagogical university.
MSOPU is accredited pursuant to the order State committee of Russian Federation on a higher education of Russia ¹ 6 from 30.11.94.

Actual quota of the students MSOPU, including all territorially detached divisions of high school, on 05.01.98 makes 11956 persons, from them 1753 persons are trained on day - time to the form at 7 faculties, 3875 persons are trained on day-time correspondence to the form and 6328 persons are trained under the correspondence form at 13 faculties. In high school function 44 stands, from them 12 of university, ensuring opening-up on disciplines social - humanitarian, general educational and psychology-pedagogical cycles operate. Besides on the rights of stands interuniversity centers act in high school: remote formation, ecological education, new educational technologies, executing coordination of activity of high schools of Russia on these problems. The educational process in high school is supplied with the qualified specialists. The courses with the students carry out 606 teachers, from them 425 nominal teachers, 181 joint teachers. The educational process is executed with 92 doctors of sciences, 144 professors and 306 candidates of sciences, 5 members of the Russian Academy of education, 3 members of foreign academies, 22 members of public academies of Russia, 16 honored workers of science, persons prominent in cultural matters and art. Scientific Degrees and the ranks have 69,5 % of the faculties. From them are the doctors of sciences - 23 %, candidates of sciences, senior lecturers - 37,7 %; 80 % of the teachers of high school conduct occupations under the authoring programs. Education-methodical affiliation on the basis of Moscow pedagogical state university on opening-up of the specialists on the job, headed MSOPU, is reorganized in Scientific - methodical Advice on opening-up of the specialists without separation from primary activity and andragogika. The Activity Scientific - methodical Advice is esteemed as prolongation of activity existing during 7 years Education-methodical affiliation on the basis of university on perfecting correspondence opening-up of pedagogical staff and intrusion in a system of maximum correspondence pedagogical formation of the remote forms of training. Since 1995 at interuniversity Center of Distant Educations. Center is built with the purposes of assistance to creation and development of a unified system of remote pedagogical formation in Russia. About relevance of such activity that circumstance testifies, that the remote formation recognized by world community of formation XXI of century. The new technologies, founded on computer equipment, satellite communications, usage of audio and video technique are trusted to in the basis of remote formation. The Considerable place in activity of Center is given to creation of the tutorials, which one would help to the students independently to acquire a teaching material, to execute special tasks and independently themselves to test. For this purpose the computer program of self-testing is designed. Center carries out sociological researches on problems of a condition and prospects for the development of formation without separation from primary activity. A main purpose of activity of Center is conditioning perfecting and reforming of correspondence formation by means of remote training. The high school has for maintenance of educational process and scientific researches indispensable computer facilities and software. For training of the students MSOPU to the fundamentals of information science and computer facilities in high school the set of computer classes is equipped. MSOPU has the library. The book fund of the library on January 1, 1997 makes 332847 copies, 32307 naming of the literature. From them: educational - 230127 copies, scientific - 76842 copies, art - 4268 copies. In basic all disciplines is full enough (1:1 or 1:2) are ensured with the educational and scientific - methodical literature. The right of publishing is given to university pursuant to the licence issued ministry of Press of Russia. This right the university will realize through authorized publishing house "Alpha". At the university successfully operate Interuniversity center on mining technologies of ecology-pedagogical formation (TECÎ Center). He introduces activity of universities and pedagogical high achool of country in the field of ecological education and formation of ecological culture of the teachers, designs and will realise domestic and international exploration programs and projects. Among them a series of the books " Ecological education in Europe " (ECOS: Russia a plus Europe), inter-regional program " Ecological culture of russian locales ", exp loratory project " Valeology: the certificate of health " etc. ECO-Center elaborates innovative of technology of ecological education for the students and teachers, emits the programs, manuals and tutorials on a problematic of ecological culture and ecological pedagogy.
