Moscow State Open Pedagogical University takes the leading place in introducing new pedagogical technologies. There are 16 faculties in the university with distant forms of teaching and teaching by correspondence, 54 departments where more than 35 thousand students study on 34 specialties. Post- graduate students and doctors are being trained here in 41 specialties, and besides preparing of specialists without breaking of the basic activities (distant education) takes place here. More than 8000 students enter the university every year. During the existence of the university more than 80 thousand specialists have been prepared. The educational process is held by 121 doctors of science and 188 professors, 355 candidates of science, 9 members of Russian academy of science, 38 members of foreign academies, 25 members of public academies of Russia, 26 honored members of science, culture and art. More than 70% of the professors and lecturers have scientific degrees and 80% of lecturers held the teaching process according to their own programs. The university is one of the largest centers on the problems of training teachers. At the moment there are 8 scientific bodies, where scientific papers can be defended and in which doctors' and candidates' degrees can be received in 22 specialties. |
